Volunteering Program

Colin's Horseback Africa is an acclaimed organization that has hosted over 10 000 international guests at the 3 star lodge. We have now initiated a responsible and ethical volunteer project in South Africa where one can interact closely with lions, serval, horses and other animals. (depending of the field of participation chosen):

There are three positions available for one person in each position:

  1. An Animal Attendant: Colin’s Horseback Africa conducts a predator conservation and monitoring project which focuses on lions and serval. This programme comprises caring for the predators (cleaning, feeding and assisting/ observing veterinary activities). There may be some maintenance projects of the enclosures, and game reserve patrols. You may also be required to lead the tours and teach others about the project.
  2. A Horse Rider: Natural Horsemanship, and becoming an integral team member in the stableyard. Duties will include grooming, mucking out of stables, possible medicating (under guidance), training of horses, and guiding on safaris. A good skills set is required for this position.
  3. A Marketing and Salesperson and promotion person for Colin’s Horseback Africa: This volunteer would be responsible for managing the social media profile, doing a weekly newsletter, meeting guesthouse owners, possible organizing and facilitating of corporate events, and generally getting “bums in saddles” for the company.

Our commitment is to provide both the community and volunteer with a mutually benefiting experience, which is transparent, sustainable, ethical and above all responsible.
