CAMPING & CARAVANNING IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS!
Africa – here we come!! There is no better way to get really close to the African outdoors, than by pitching a tent or setting up a caravan in the heart of this raw beauty.
OPTIONS: We offer both a private camping site (Chuckle’s Cove) and a public camping area. In Chuckle’s Cove, even if you book only for two people, you get the whole camp site to yourselves!
The smell of the bush and dams nearly, the sound of the lions roaring, the morning sun as it casts its yellow glow over the trees, and then the spectacular sunsets – it cannot get better. Here one comes to enjoy the serenity of the outdoors without the hustle and bustle of city life. There is no electricity, but there are solar lights at the toilets and showers close by.
CHUCKLE’S COVE – PRIVATE CAMP SITE
This is a private “wild” camp site on the eastern side of the horse paddocks. It can accommodate a minimum of two guests and a maximum of 23 people. There are marked sites where the guests can pitch their tents. There is a roadway through it so that most of the sites are accessible for camper-trailers and caravans.
This is a camp site where visitors must bring all their own camping tents and equipment. There is a lovely wooden ablution block with two toilets, two separate showers, and a kitchenette area where dishes can be washed.
Fires may only be made in the campfire area provided, as well as inside braai stands, on a gas stove or similar appliance. All refuse must be removed upon leaving the camp site.
FACILITIES:
- This is a stunning location; the camping area is only 500 meters away from the main lodge and restaurant area.
- The horse paddocks are right next door to the camping area, so it is ideal for pony camps!
- The camp site is within walking distance from the fishing dams.
- The camp site is the preferred place to stay for the rock climbers.
- The camp site is right within the game reserve with no fences whatsoever, so the animals roam right next to the tents.
Campers can erect their own tents or park their caravans or campervans to enjoy the “out of doors” to the fullest!!
MIDWEEK (SUN NIGHT – THU NIGHT); MIN 2 NIGHTS STAY:
R 350 per site per night + R 195 per person per night

ADDITIONAL PUBLIC CAMP SITE
There is also a SECOND camping area where people can book without having to pay a site fee PLUS a per person rate on top of that. This camp site is next to the dam close to the restaurant. There is a communal outside “bush shower” with no roof on it. It does have lovely hot water through. At this site the campers make use of the public toilet area of the restaurant, entering from a second door facing out towards the dam.
The rate at this site is R195 per person, for both midweek or weekends. There is no minimum nights stay here.
